KAMP Annual Meeting

KAMP President, Michelle Ellington called the meeting to order.
Ms. Ellington stated that she was encouraged by the progress that KAMP had made during the last year. She stated that she assumed presidential duties after the former president, Don Homan, resigned. She stated that the KAMP membership has grown significantly, and there was progress being made by committees; including certification. She stated that the KAMP website has become a necessary part of the KAMP organization. She also encouraged all present members to use the site for discussions.
The KAMP board was introduced. Michelle Ellington, President, Lance Morris, Director, Stephen Berry, Secretary, Eric Ivanovich, Treasurer, were recognized for their service to KAMP during the past year.
Ms. Ellington introduced Kentucky GIS Conference Lunch Speaker, Jim Lorenz, Microsoft. Mr. Lorenz stated that Microsoft is working on online mapping initiatives that will serve the public and private sector. He introduced Microsoft Corporation’s Virtual Earth initiative. He stated that Microsoft recognizes the need for “live” mapping information and geographic information systems. He stated that Microsoft would be offering multiple solutions for private and public sector organizations to manage, map, and analyze their geographic data.
Ms. Ellington recognized Photo Science, Inc. of Lexington, Kentucky as the 2007 Annual Meeting Sponsor. She stated that Photo Science, Inc. has provided refreshments for the meeting and is an active corporate member of the KAMP organization.
Mike Ritchie, President of Photo Science, introduced his companies services. He stated that Photo Science has done some award winning projects across the United States. He stated that those projects included LIDAR mapping of the Coastal Areas of New Orleans after the Katrina Hurricane Disaster. He stated that LIDAR is a very useful technology. He also stated that Photo Science remains on the “cutting-edge” of this relatively new commercial technology.
Nominations for Board Positions were announced. The nominees for each position were as follows:
President-Elect: Stephen M. Berry, GIS Coordinator, Clark County GIS
Director (2): Kenny Ratliff, Director, Kentucky Department of Geographic Information; Earl Smith, GIS Manager, Georgetown-Scott County Planning; Amy Murphy, Photo Science, Inc.
Secretary: Mark Wiljanen
Treasurer: Eric Ivanovich, HDR-Quest Engineers; Marc Pearson, FMSM Engineers
Each candidate for a contested Board Position was given an opportunity to introduce him/herself to the KAMP membership. The votes were counted and the KAMP Board of 2007-2008 was sworn in by Past-President Trisha Brush.

Michelle Ellington stated that the next year would be an exciting year for KAMP. She stated that new initiatives would be started in web access, and certification. She urged all members to join and be active in KAMP Committees.
On a motion by Stephen Berry and Second by Kenny Ratliff, and a unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned.
