The University of Kentucky’s Facilities Information Services (FIS) is seeking to hire a Technical Specialist. This position will report directly to the Technical Administrator over projects and will serve in a variety of technical roles supporting the different areas of the FIS team. While serving in these roles the position will rely on senior level support to complete the assigned tasks.
The tasks will span many different skills sets including but not limited to project management using business and organization skills; customer interaction and correspondence using exceptional service etiquette; GIS map production and analysis using ArcGIS; Facilities space revitalization using data processing software; keydrawing processing using AutoCad, ArcGIS, and other tools; lean processing using Toyota Production System concepts; technical training using presentation skills and applications; data collection and entry using the appropriate software for the task; programming using html, scripting and other tools; database querying and editing using enterprise spatial databases; Campus license support using deployment tools and in-house workflows; managing other departmental projects and technical system needs as required.

 

The position will work full time with possible overtime and will maintain availability during critical times to support the operations of the area. The position will fill-in for team members and directly support projects to meet department deadlines.

 

Facilities Information Services supports multiple Facilities divisions including Campus & Medical Center Physical Plant, Capital Project Management, Real Estate Services and FM Shared Services along with many other customers/departments around the campus.
