Please join the University of Louisville Center for Geographic Information Sciences on November 16th, 2016 for our annual GIS Day events! This year’s events feature talks from local businesses about innovative GIS and spatial data applications, as well as a live unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) demonstration. Following the morning presentations in the Chao Auditorium in Ekstrom Library, visitors are welcome to join us in Lutz Hall for lunch and to peruse a gallery of maps and research posters by UofL students, faculty, and staff. Tours of the Department of Geography and Geosciences will also be available.

New for this year, GIS Day will also feature a Hackathon, aimed at applying the power of geospatial technology to a range of issues faced by the local refugee and immigrant community. In partnership with the Civic Data Alliance, Metro Louisville government, KY Refugee Ministries, and Catholic Charities, our team of GIS Hackers will gather to put their minds and skills to work in addressing these issues. If you are interested in participating in the Hackathon, please contact DJ Bidde at djbidd01@louisville.edu.
