Hello my name is Michael Shaw and I am the GIS/PCB Compliance Officer at Mayfield Electric and Water Systems in Mayfield, Kentucky.

I have been involved in GIS for almost twenty years and have been a KAMP member since September of 2010, almost twelve years. In that time I have had the opportunity to use several different types of software and equipment.

Some of my current duties at Mayfield Electric are maintaining our mapping systems for four different departments which include our electric, water, wastewater and fiber facilities. We use ESRI and Autocad daily to accomplish this. I also use and maintain Milsoft for our electric system modeling and Dispatch for our outage management system. I am also responsible for the PCB compliance work for our company which includes handling all of the electric department equipment that falls under specific disposal requirements as governed by the EPA.

I have been a KAMP member for several years and have attended workshops, quarterly meetings and conferences in the past. Unfortunately due to circumstances with COVID the last few years and the tornado that hit Mayfield last December I have not been as active as in the past.

I would like to serve on the KAMP Executive Board to help expand membership and especially try to get more people in the western Kentucky area involved with KAMP. I would also do what I could to move KAMP forward and to continue it’s growth in the future. One thing that has benefitted me is the contacts and friendships made through KAMP.
