KAMM accepting abstracts for the 2017 KAMM Conference

“KAMM i am…”

We invite new and old friends to take part in this year’s KAMM conference by submitting an abstract for the annual conference program.  We are requesting presentations that are geared to beginner, intermediate or advanced audiences:   We want to hear your success stories so our mitigation community can be successful by integrating, adapting, and mitigating at the local level.

While brainstorming the conference theme, we embraced the concept that “KAMM i am” can mean many things.  “I” can mean integration such as integrated water resources or resilience approaches,  “A” could be adaptation; such as adapting to a changing world or a local community adapting a program, and “M” is and always will be mitigation.  “i am” can also mean so many more things; things like, “I am the floodplain coordinator/zoning official/GIS specialist/city manager…or, I am an engineer, or I am in over my head…”.

We are seeking abstracts for workshops, concurrent sessions and plenary sessions for the 2017 KAMM annual conference.  If you are a local, regional, or federal official, an agency, a consultant, a KAMM member, or anyone else with an interest in mitigation, we invite you to be a part of our conference program.  Multiple submissions for different topics are welcomed.

Presentations of interest could include:

  • Success Stories and Grants Projects
  • Natural Hazards
  • Stormwater Management
  • Education and Outreach
  • Engineering and Mapping
  • Response and Recovery
  • Floodplain and/or Emergency Management
  • Mitigation Techniques and Resilience Projects
  • Green Infrastructure and Natural Systems
