Congratulations to the winner of the 2016 KAMP Scholarship, Larissa Watkins!
Larissa was nominated by Assistant Professor Kelly Watson with the Department of Geosciences at Eastern Kentucky University. Academically Larissa is studious, self-directed, and intellectually engaged. In May of this year she completed the requirements for EKU’s 24-credit hour professional GIS certificate. Last semester, Larissa worked closely with Assistant Professor Watson on research monitoring change in agricultural land and water usage in California’s Central Valley. This semester Larissa is again examining beekeeping as a livelihood strategy and a means of protecting and preserving natural areas in East Africa. Larissa plans to attend graduate school next fall and the KAMP scholarship will assist her in this goal.
KAMP wishes Larissa much success in all her academic endeavors!
