The 2nd annual Kentucky GIS Applications Developer Contest will be held this year at the 2011 Kentucky GIS Conference on the night of Tuesday October 11, 2011 in effort to promote the GIS developer community of Kentucky (and surrounding areas). Similar to last year’s function, the contest will have a “party” atmosphere with drinks and food and anyone is encouraged to submit an entry whether you are new to application development or have been a geo-spatial code monkey for years.
Entry to the contest will be free for participants, but will NOT include admission to the remainder of the 2011 Kentucky GIS Conference. Contestants will be allowed to enter any application (private, commercial, hobby) containing some geospatial component with the only requirements being that the contestant must be the author of the application and should be prepared to show and discuss source code. Contestants will be provided with a table, power source, and internet access for further discussion as the nights goes on, yet we encourage everyone to bring an additional monitor if possible. Contestants should also be prepared to give a brief 3-4 minute overview of their application at the beginning of the contest.
