2011 Kentucky GIS Conference:
Sharing our Common Wealth
On behalf of the Kentucky GIS Conference Planning Committee, KAMP and The KY Division of Geographic Information, we would like to invite you to attend the 2011 Kentucky GIS Conference October 11-13th at the Capital Plaza Hotel and Frankfort Convention Center in Frankfort, KY. This year’s conference is shaping up to be one of the best yet!
On-line registration is now closed.
On-site registration will be available beginning on Tuesday, October 11th at 12:00 and continue throughout the conference.
The Kentucky GIS conference remains a great value. Our full conference registration is $225 for KAMP members, $250 for new KAMP members (KAMP membership included), $275 for non-KAMP members. Single day registration is $125 for KAMP members, $150 for new KAMP members and $175 for non-KAMP members.
Room Reservations should be made directly to the Capital Plaza Hotel at 502-227-5100. A special room rate of $84.00 plus tax is available until September 25. You must mention KAMP in order to receive this rate.

Pre-Conference Workshops
You have spoken and we have listened. We will be hosting 5 pre-conference workshops that provide an opportunity for enhancing your GIS technical skills. Pre-conference workshops are scheduled for Tuesday, October 11th from 1:00 – 4:30. There is a separate cost associated with the workshops and registration is limited.
Introduction to GIS Web Mapping Applications – Ben Koostra – $40
GISP Certification Workshop – Kyle Snyder – $25
Editing in ArcMap 10 – Kevin Cary – $40
Introduction to ArcGIS Server – Vince DiNoto – $40
Using the 2010 Census Data – Kelly Karres and Stephen Berry – $25

Geocaching Event
The geocaching event will return for its third consecutive year! The geocaching event will be held in Fountain Square on Tuesday afternoon.
Application Developer’s Showcase
Similar to last year’s function, the contest will have a “party” atmosphere with drinks and food and anyone is encouraged to submit an entry whether you are new to application development or have been a geo-spatial code monkey for years. Keynote Speaker
Clint Brown with Esri will be our keynote speaker on Wednesday, October 12th.
Clint Brown has worked at Esri since 1983 and is responsible for managing all Esri product releases in use today. His duties include designing, testing, documenting, and administering the release of Esri software products.
Clint also speaks on GIS implementation and concepts at numerous conferences and meetings. He has also written extensively about GIS, contributing content to several books, white papers, and presentations on GIS.

Technical Sessions
The call for presentations has been extended. Please submit your abstract ASAP so the agenda can be finalized. Click here to submit an abstract.
Our goal is to have a full agenda with at least 32 sessions on Wednesday and Thursday displaying all of the great uses of GIS. This year will also include an executive tract for those involved in managing a GIS program.
Tailgating with the Vendors
Wednesday evening’s vendor reception will be themed “Tailgating with the Vendors” . Activities will include fun, games, food and drinks with our vendors.
