Dear Fellow KAMP members,

Sadly, I must inform my KAMP friends that I have been awarded new responsibility with ESRI which will include account management responsibility for the State of Indiana in addition to my KY responsibilities. Though I am complimented by my enhanced role with ESRI and the opportunity to reconnect with my many friends in Indiana, the new responsibility has necessitated my resignation as President of KAMP, a very difficult decision indeed. I hope you all understand that I feel that KAMP is important enough to warrant more attention than I would be able to provide in both the short and long term. Accordingly, I have decided to place the responsibility of the Office of President into the very capable hands of Michelle Ellington, the President-Elect, and the existing Executive Board. I am confident that she and they will more than capably handle the helm.

As you can well imagine, this was a very difficult decision for me, and one that required my taking counsel with my many friends and colleagues within KAMP and among my fellow GIS professionals at ESRI. I will step down in the interest of KAMP, believing that the role of President should be trusted to someone that is a dedicated Kentucky resource as I was at the time of my election. It is imperative, in my view, that the President be fully integrated into the GIS landscape in Kentucky, and that he or she has the capability, drive, and flexibility to fulfill this very important role. I am comfortable that your new President fits and exceeds this requirement quite well.

Though I will no longer serve KAMP as its president, I will continue to participate in KAMP to the extent feasible given my new responsibilities. I believe in our mission, goals, and purpose. I feel very privileged to have been asked to serve in this esteemed organization, and look forward to its continued success under the new, and supremely capable, regime.
